- Community - General community not qualifying for the other two groups
All Caltech/JPL employees receive a 2.5% discount on tuition rates to reflect cost free services that Caltech/JPL has made available to the CEC. All Caltech/JPL employees with children in the two-year-old groups and younger receive an additional 8% discount. These discounts are reflected in the above rates.
Tuition is charged for all week days each month, including holidays, whether or not your child is in attendance. It may be helpful to think of tuition as you might rent an apartment. It holds a place for your child in the center. Just as a landlord is unable to fill your apartment for a few weeks while you go on a vacation, we are unable to fill your child's space for a brief vacation period while our operating expenses remain constant.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
In an effort to offset child care costs for families who would not be able to afford the tuition, we have implemented a tuition assistance program. Assistance is provided to families who qualify as funds are available. The program is currently supported by the generosity of donors giving through United Way and designating the CEC as the recipient, direct funding from JPL, and from a fundraising commitment by the CEC’s Board of Trustees. We are actively seeking additional funds to develop our program further. Additional information and applications are available through the office. For JPL and Caltech employees, tuition assistance may be available through the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP). Phone 4-7147 or 4-7149 at JPL, or visit Caltech's website.
