  • Arts and crafts
  • Low teacher to child ratios
  • Nurturing, familiy-like atmosphere

Click through the tabs to learn about our five main sites + our programs at Westridge and St.Bede's.

Oak Grove

Located on the same site as our Infant-Toddler and Preschool Program in La Canada, the School-Age Program at Oak Grove occupies our cafetorium, also known as the Whale Room. We provide care for children from local private and public schools (Aveson, Odyssey, LCUSD, GUSD, and others) including transportation from specific schools by our licensed van drivers.

This program is afternoon care only, running from 11:30 am or 1:00 pm through 5:45 pm

Caltech

Our Caltech School-Age Program is located on the same site as our Cooperative Preschool in a craftsman bungalow one block Caltech. This site offers children from Pasadena and South Pasadena Unified the opportunity to learn, play, and make new friends, with transportation provided from many schools.

This program is afternoon care only, running from 11:30 am or 1:00 pm through 5:45 pm

LCUSD Sites

The CEC provides the on-site before and after-care programs for the La Cañada Unified School District at Palm Crest, La Cañada, and Paradise Canyon elementary schools. Care at our on-site LCUSD programs is available throughout the day, beginning at 7:00 am.

Our School-Age program also operates in collaboration with Westridge School for Girls in Pasadena and St. Bede’s the Venerable in La Cañada, and serves children enrolled in those schools.

How To Enroll

To enroll your child in the School-Age Program, please complete and submit the appropriate application listed with the buttons below. To enroll in our programs at Westridge or St. Bede’s, please contact the school directly. All programs enroll children from Kindergarten-Grade Six, with Transitional Kindergarten programming available for LCUSD and Aveson children, and Middle School programming also available at Westridge and St Bede.

Although most of our admissions into the program occur between mid-May and mid-September of each year, we do experience some vacancies mid-year. We hold everyone's applications in our waiting pool throughout the year in the event a vacancy appears. Each year in January, we update the waiting pool list by sending out a form to each family on the list and ask that it be completed and returned. Only those families who return the form are kept in the pool.

For more enrollment information, current openings, or to schedule an enrollment tour, please call the CEC office at (818) 354-3418 or e-mail Allegra Inganni, Director of the School-Age Program, or Talar Tchoboian, Assistant Director of the School-Age Program.

Our Learning Environments

All of our sites feature engaging indoor and outdoor classrooms full of provocations, areas intentionally designed for exploration, and learning opportunities that intrigue and delight children. Children benefit from unstructured playtime, as well as organized sports, clubs, and activities.

Our Teachers

Our low teacher-child ratio allows teachers to offer loving, individualized care to all children, as well as provide fun and engaging clubs and activities, and homework support.
