COVID-19 Update: April 20, 2021

Little has changed in the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidance in the last two weeks. However, we would like to clarify several specific aspects of the guidance based on frequently asked questions.

  • Out-of-State Travel: While the guidance from the state of California and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health no longer requires a quarantine period upon returning from out-of-state travel, it only applies to fully vaccinated people. Unvaccinated people, which include children at this time, still require a quarantine period of 10 days (or 7 days with a negative Covid test after day 3-5 of quarantine )

  • Gatherings:

    • Currently, three household groups, totaling no more than 15 people, may gather together outdoors using face coverings and practicing 6' distancing. Gathering with groups larger than this or without face-covering/distancing requires a 10 day quarantine period. (or 7 days with a negative Covid test after day 3-5 of quarantine)

    • Fully vaccinated adults may gather without face coverings or distancing with a small group of other fully vaccinated adults who do not reside in their household. However, children (due to being unvaccinated) are still required to quarantine if they are present at such a gathering.

  • Symptoms: Children and unvaccinated adults experiencing one or more Covid symptoms will still need to quarantine, test, or receive an alternative diagnosis.

We continue proactively remain current on all aspects of public health guidance and update you on any material changes that impact the CEC's practices. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
